Coverage mostly west + main highways (exceptions: around Iquitos + the 30C east); terrain: mountainous west, flat east (but flat desert near Piura NW); climate: desert west, rainforest east; highway numbers rise north→south (1/3/5 = the long ones)

Landscape & flora by region:

Red brick + blue-tinted-glass buildings increase toward Lake Titicaca (W-Bolivia look - caution, red brick exists everywhere); overhanging roofs w/ wooden supports → north (often brightly coloured)

Pole markings: yellow vertical numbers → north coast + Tacna, often w/ a horizontal 2-3-letter city code (CH = Chimbote); open-front tuk-tuks → northern half; Lima lamps = inverted-J sweep (occasionally Iquitos/Pucallpa); cylindrical bollard w/ black-yellow top → only Moquegua

Cities: Lima = long straight divided boulevards; Pucallpa = consistent WSW-ENE grid; Iquitos = isolated Gen3-only Amazon city w/ tuk-tuks + overcast; Cusco = red brick + colonial mix, ringed by mountains, airport mid-city (La-Paz-like!); Tacna = dry ridge to the north; Puerto Maldonado = moto-taxi drivers in yellow vests

Road spotlights: 1N at the Piura/Lambayeque border = semi-desert, overcast Gen3; 1N/1S divided section = the only rural divided highway; 1S south of Ica = coast-hugging, red-orange soil, all Gen4; 5N (San Alejandro↔Esperanza) = straight flat rainforest road; 30C (Planchón↔Iñapari) = white Gen3 car, dense forest, Brazil-interior look; 28B (Kimbiri↔Echarate) = faded/missing lines, hillside + river valley; Jauja↔Huancayo valley = flat plain w/ trees + villages between N-S ranges
