Plates

Plates have a red strip

Albania: Albania = Gen4 camera, Mediterranean landscape, Latin script; bollards with black top + red reflector.

United Arab Emirates: UAE = desert, Arabic script, white Gen3 car with black roof racks - nothing like snowy Central Asia.

Cars unique here

Silver car with four bars visible; all coverage is Gen3

Other countries have similar silver Street View cars (e.g. Guatemala), but no country with a similar landscape has one - and none of them uses the Cyrillic alphabet.

Guatemala: Cyrillic + Central Asian mountains → Kyrgyzstan; Spanish + Central American jungle → Guatemala.

Language

Kyrgyz Cyrillic - like Russian but with extra letters Ө Ү Ң (not in Russian Cyrillic)

Kazakhstan: Spot Ә Қ Ғ Ұ І → Kazakhstan. Camera: KZ = white pickup (often Gen4), KG = silver Gen3 car with 4 bars.

Mongolia: Double vowels or the ЗОГС stop sign → Mongolia; yurts + bowling-pin bollards seal it.

Russia: No Ө Ү Ң anywhere → think Russia (its distinctive letters are Ы Э Ё Ъ). Plates fully white, no red strip.

Ukraine: A Latin-looking і inside Cyrillic text → Ukraine, not Kyrgyzstan.

Bulgaria: Latin everywhere alongside Cyrillic + EU blue strip on plates (very common sight) → Bulgaria. Bulgarian also uses Ъ as a vowel mid-word.

Landscape

All coverage was captured in winter

Russia: Check the camera: KG = silver car w/ 4 bars; Russia = black/white Gen3 car w/ long antenna (or Gen4). Plates: KG red strip vs RU fully white.

Utility

Trees & concrete poles painted white at the bottom

Russia: Fully white plates + long-antenna Gen3 or Gen4 → Russia.

Kazakhstan: White pickup camera car → Kazakhstan.

Ukraine: Plate with blue-yellow strip on the left + some of Europe's worst roads → Ukraine.

Bollards

Simple white bollards with a diagonal black stripe near the top

Russia: Sheer bollard quantity + fully white plates → Russia; combine with the car meta.

Mongolia: Pin shape + red (not black) stripes → Mongolia.

Signs unique here

km markers with a red-and-white triangle pattern are unique to Kyrgyzstan

Arch

Majority Muslim → many mosques throughout the country

Kazakhstan: White pickup camera car (often Gen4) + Kazakh extra letters Ә Қ Ғ → Kazakhstan.

Regional 6

General

Coverage is very limited - learning the covered roads pays off massively

Cars

Learn the Google-car driving direction on the major roads to narrow down options

Cars

Car-mirror metas - the mirror region-guesses Kyrgyzstan

Utility

Divided roads are concentrated in and around Bishkek; a major divided highway runs Bishkek → Balykchy

Landscape

Lake Issyk-Kul is the biggest body of water - often visible from the roads north & south of it

Landscape

Northern roads: considerable snow + generally bright sky

City 13

Arch

Bishkek is by far the most developed city - many taller multi-storey buildings, fancier buildings on the outskirts; mountains to the south (often hard to see)

Landscape

Urban snow coverage exists in one region of Bishkek

Landscape

South of Bishkek: hilly, snowy Tian Shan to the south, visible smog to the north (most polluted city air)

Utility

Towns east & west of Bishkek feature colourful poles - yellow, green, white, sometimes red on top

General

Osh = 2nd-biggest city; has the southern mirror; weather fair with some clouds - never fully overcast (that's Manas)

Landscape

Trees in Osh mostly keep their leaves (vs leafless Bishkek)

Landscape unique here

In the centre you can see mountains with radio masts on top

General

Manas (prev. Jalal-Abad) = 3rd-biggest city; southern mirror; extremely overcast with no cloud gaps (vs Osh's fair weather); slightly snowy hill to the east

Landscape

Arslanbob - snowy mountain resort town north of Manas; big elevation changes inside the town; southern mirror

General

Uzgen - slightly snowy town between Osh & Manas; overcast coverage; southern mirror

Utility

In Talas most poles are painted white at the bottom with red & yellow stripes

Landscape

Karakol sits between snow-capped mountains north & south; sunny coverage; melting snow on the ground

Landscape

Naryn - steep orange ridge to the north, big snow-capped mountains to the south

Specific spots 14
