Ghana: Follow-car + yellow rear plates → Kenya.

County names appear on signs/billboards/posters → learn the counties; PO BOX postcodes: 'PO BOX XXX-YYYZZ' - the number after the hyphen = area code, city name often follows

Coverage outside the SW mostly on main roads; east + north = extremely flat, SW = higher; climate zones humid → very arid (map); far west (around Kisumu) = the farm belt: grassy hills + eucalyptus; Kitui = semi-arid, light-orange sandy dirt; NW (A1/Sibiloi) = tan soil + sparse low trees + dirty exposed car

Coast: coconut palms (+ rare Taita-Taveta); white flowers en masse → east of Chyulu Hills / Tsavo / A109 south of Nairobi; endless stick fences → around Narok; red brick → west + east of Nairobi; mud-and-stick houses → west + coast; light bricks w/ excess mortar → coast

Nairobi = the only skyscraper city, ringed by poor settlements; Mt Kilimanjaro visible to the south from Oloitoktok & the border area; Homa Bay = protruding hill east; Wajir = blinding white dirt roads + extremely red roadside soil

Road spotlights: B9 (NE) = unpaved bright red-orange dirt; A2 Isiolo↔Marsabit = plants + big ranges (huge range west in Namunyak); A2 north of Marsabit = flatter, barer; A3 north of Garissa = light soil + green trees; western C34 = flat E-W, sugar cane + a long range north; B8 north of Kibaoni = succulents
