Gen4 concentrated around Anchorage; interior & north = subarctic/tundra (short trees, little undergrowth); aspens in lower interior/south-central; farmland only in the south (Matanuska Valley, Kenai Peninsula)
Alexander Archipelago (panhandle, BC border): tall lush green mountains, wooden buildings, misty overcast Gen2 (coastal OR/WA can look similar); Juneau = the panhandle's only built-up city, ringed by forested mountains
The Trans-Alaska pipeline is often visible from main roads - nothing similar exists in the rest of the US (map of viewpoints)
City 1
Only two major urban areas: Anchorage & Fairbanks; Anchorage suburbs = wide roads + commercial strips + mountains behind (Fairbanks similar but fewer mountains); fire hydrants: pale pink/pale yellow → Anchorage, bright yellow or yellow-blue → Fairbanks; shitcam only around Anchorage/Fairbanks + their connecting road
Specific spots 2
Highway spotlights: Dalton Hwy north end = flat, snowy, overcast (hill ridge west); Denali Hwy (Cantwell↔Paxson) = E-W gravel Gen2, late summer wildflowers, big mountains; Steese Hwy (Fairbanks↔Central) = similar but noticeably lower mountains; Hwy 5 (Yukon border↔Tetlin Jct) = foggy rainy Gen2 - US side has outer lines & is unpaved east of Chicken (Canadian Top-of-the-World: paved, no outer lines)
Prudhoe Bay = northernmost US town w/ coverage: dead cold landscape, overcast, sometimes a 2nd Google car; Nome, Unalakleet, Galena = trekker-only towns (lime-green hat or B&W beanie; the B&W bandana appears only in Nome)
